A poem about Hope

Have you ever seen a word
with edges quite as sharp
One that makes you hold your breath
From letting in the dark.

Whether it is a world worth saving
or a simple request
Each time we Hope for something
That’s when we’re at our best.

That momentum you build within,
when you quickly glimpse ahead
if everything goes just right
worries no longer dread.

If only life were so kind,
We must certainly be due,
A way to me, it will find
I know this to be true.

And before you can even realize it,
the picture you just dreamt,
Like ice in heat, a quick heartbeat,
What follows is life’s lament.

Whoah, this can’t be, don’t you see,
It happened once again,
With a dose of regret and failure
Why the hell did I give in?

That feeling has pushed some away,
swearing never to hope again,
They have their reasons to separate,
Having witnessed life’s bitter end.

So while it’s getting grim ahead,
and things don’t look too great,
I too have seen this dark before,
The moment is its fate.

Like clockwork next comes the light
To help when things get tough
and fight through the night
This time, know Hope is enough

So Hope for a kinder tomorrow
One where people come together
For when life is filled with sorrow
United we Light the dark forever
